How Tooth Whitening Works

Teeth can become stained and discoloured over the years due to many factors, ie. smoking, medication, ageing and even things we eat and drink such as tea, coffee, red wine etc.

The White At Home tooth whitening system contains carbamide peroxide, which is an oxidizing agent. On contact with your teeth the gel breaks down and releases oxygen molecules that penetrate the porosities in the structure of the enamel and safely and effectively bleach the stains giving your teeth a much lighter appearance.

White At Home will supply you with your custom made whitening trays. These are made to measure using the impressions you have returned to us. The trays are of the highest quality, comfortable and well fitting. A small amount of whitening gel is applied to the inner surface of each tray, which are then worn over the teeth.

The carbamide peroxide whitening gel

White At Home supplies a choice of two strengths of whitening gel.

10% - Ideal for those people with sensitive teeth, ie. people who's teeth are generally sensitive to hot and cold.
16% - Ideal for people who do not suffer from tooth sensitivity.

Both gel strengths will achieve the same results, but the 10% gel will take a little longer.

Wearing times

We recommended the first time you wear your trays, you wear them for just 30 minutes. If you experience no tooth sensitivity you can proceed to increase the wearing time.

10% - 2 hours once per day.
16% - 1 1/2 hours once per day.

2) We will send you your home impression kit containing:

Your easy to follow instructions.
2 impression trays.
Enough impression material to take upper and lower impressions plus enough for a second attempt should you make a mistake with one.

3) You take your own tooth impressions and mail them back to us in the pre-paid packaging supplied.

4) We make your custom made tooth whitening trays and mail them back to you within 7 working days of receiving your impressions, along with your choice of strength of whitening gel and instructions for use, so you can start whitening your teeth straight away.
