Each year around this time, I always feel myself gravitating towards a simple, clean home. The happiness of the holidays has passed, and I crave a clear space and mind as we begin the new year. Oftentimes, we remove all the holiday decor from our homes and get this feeling of emptiness—don’t worry, I feel it, too. My biggest tip—don’t oversaturate your home again. Let it be, and start simple by adding your favorite faux stems and sprays, either greenery or florals.
I love adding neutral faux stems to our home for many reasons. Aside from the overall aesthetic, some of the major selling points are the cost, texture, and color they bring to any space. By investing in a few faux stems or sprays that you like, you can continue to use them season after season, year after year, for however long you love them. As much as I love real greenery and florals, faux has been the most cost-effective route for me in the long run!
Adding stems and sprays to your home is a beautiful way to introduce texture as well. By mixing in effortless greenery, soft blooms, and structured branches, you can achieve a realistic look that mimics the authentic touch and movement of real stems. My pro tip here is to always make sure to fluff any blooms and play around with any branches to create a very full and natural look.
When it comes to color, there are many variations of what constitutes being neutral, but for me, I love green tones, ivory and creams, and oftentimes a deep moody plum. For me, these tones are universal and can be styled throughout your home for the entire year. While absolutely still neutral, these subtle pops of color contrast beautifully against lighter walls, warmer furniture pieces, and any metals you may have throughout.
