Flooring For Our Home

Another question I am asked daily is what type of flooring we went with. This is a HUGE decision for your home, and I was very careful about our selection.

In our previous home, we did some renovations that we learned from. In 2016, we removed a lot of tile in our 1990’s home and put down a budget friendly engineered hardwood floor. It ended up being way too dark, not great quality, and showed everything. I spent time every day hating it and regretting my decision, so it was important to make the right decision the first time around with this build.

Our builder had lots of beautiful hardwood and engineered hardwood samples to choose from - gorgeous selections of wide plank white oak flooring that would have been absolutely amazing (albeit expensive). However, I knew that with having young kids I didn’t want to worry about scratches, dents, and water damage, and cringe every time they drag something across the floor or leave an ice cube melting in the kitchen (happens ALL the time).

I knew LVP was going to make me a more relaxed human, and I had seen a gorgeous selection in our real estate agents home that I loved. So naturally, I did a ton of research about it and knew it was going to be the winner.

We ended up choosing Paradigm Conquest LVP in the color Citadel. I love that the boards are 6ft long and wide plank, 100% waterproof with stone polymer rigid core (SPC), and the color is absolute timeless perfection! It is SO forgiving. My one tip if you go with this flooring is to make sure you order extra. Our extra boards mysteriously disappeared at the end of our build (don’t get me started on that story) and if you need to replace a board it will be necessary to have boards from the same lot. (They have changed the locking mechanism a few times over the years, and if you don’t have the same lot they will not lock together). Overall, we have been so happy that we chose this LVP!
